dairy two:1899 - 1907 | "rosemount" in prospect rd, summer hill    
       
  between the years of 1899 and 1907 richard playford and family ran a dairy at what was then 90 prospect road, summer hill, sydney. the house and dairy were on rented premises which were at first acquired by abijah jesse hicks playford in 1899 and then taken over by his father richard playford the following year. the name "rosemount" came from the existing property which was known as "rosemount house".

arthur leslie playford, the eldest son of abijah and harriet playford, was born at "rosemount house" on june 10, 1899. shortly after, abijah and his young family moved to lismore, leaving richard to work the dairy in prospect road with the assistance of his other children. both wesley playford and charles thew (husband of anna playford) are registered as living at the dairy in the sands directory working as a dairyman and butter merchant respectively.
